From the UK, Emily Smith, a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene. Her powerful, clear vocals have gained her award-winning, worldwide recognition. As a songwriter Emily has been likened to a Scottish Joni Mitchell, but she is equally adept at presenting fresh and evocative interpretations of traditional songs.

New Zealand born musician Jamie McClennan has over ten years experience as a touring musician, having played in line-ups ranging from surf bands to pipe bands to traditional bands.
After moving toin Scotland, Jamie soon became a well-known face in the Glasgow music scene. Performing on stage with the likes of The Waifs, Beth Neilson Chapman, Phil Cunningham, Brian Finnigan and John McCuske, Jamie’s style is a melting pot drawing on influences from his ancestral roots of traditional Scottish and Irish fiddle music, but also from a love of bluegrass and blues.
Jamie’s versatility and passion for music comes across in his infectious energy on stage and it’s clear that every part of him is affected by his performance.

A folk, roots and world music band formed in 2010, Sanders Alley Khan play beautifully mad acoustic music. A live-wire trio that blends a fine array of musical styles and instruments with superb three-way vocal harmonies, they perform both original material and tunes and songs paying homage to their wide variety of influences.
Sanders Alley Khan are Jon Sanders (tenor ukulele, bouzouki and guitar), Dave Alley (guitar, slide guitar) and Dave Khan (mandolin, guitar, violin and banjo).
Jon’s Celtic and jazz influences, Dave Alley’s bluesy roots and Dave Khan’s American folk and blues all blend and deliver great energy, sublime musicianship and a few laughs. The band performs self-composed numbers as well as tunes and songs paying homage to their wide variety of influences.
These three heavyweights of the New Zealand acoustic music scene, each exceptional solo performers in their own right, were the highlight of the 2011 Auckland Festival, their energy, enthusiasm and musicianship bringing the Sunday night audience to its feet.
The varied programme will have the main acts playing both morning and afternoon sessions, and there will be a range of local musicians performing.
Food and drink will be on sale but you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and/or dinner and enjoy great live music under the shade of young fig trees beneath a southern sun.
