Over the years my elderly dad has made a collection of stringed folk instruments.
He has asked me to make enquiries as to selling some of them, as the family is not really interested in taking them on.
Dad's hands are a bit shaky now and he's finding it hard to continue.
Some need finishing – e.g stringing.
Here’s list of what he’s got in his workshop
(all handmade all to plans):
Violins: Stradivarius plan – oak back/kauri top/rewarewa (New Zealand honeysuckle) sides.
Bass: Viola da Gamba/carved head – old Italian fretted from Cremona 1701 design. by the great Stradivari, Mahogany back/sides, American red cedar bell; 7 strings.
Black Mountain Dulcimer.
Harps – Bardic/Celtic/Minstrel.
Lutes.
Finnsh Kantele.
Psaltery (similar to a harp).
Hurdy-Gurdy.
Hammered Dulcimer.
Plucked Psaltery.
Figure 8 Fiddle (Spanish).
Mandolin: flat back and round back.
And so on.
All beautifully made with love.
Anyone interested?
Please email me!
